BACKGROUND

Corey Reid was born in 1986 in the suburbs of Washington DC; he moved to Las Vegas in the fall of 2006 after obtaining a degree in hotel and restaurant management with hopes of becoming a chef on the strip. It was here that Corey witnessed the housing crisis which coincidentally was the same time as a cooking position shortage, the Las Vegas valley passed a new smoking law which made most local bars close their kitchens, this cost Corey his job at the worst possible time. With it becoming increasingly difficult to find work as a cook, Corey began working as a barback and eventually worked his way up to bartender, joining the Bartender’s Union Local 165 in 2008. After working from the bottom up and paying his dues Corey finally landed his dream job as a bartender at a luxury pool on the strip, all was well until march of 2020, the entire world shut down and he was only offered 12 shifts the entire year. The 2021 pool season came and went and despite promises from his management Corey was not returned to full time, even now in 2022 Corey has not gotten fully back to work. This is why Corey chose to run this year, he is fed up with politicians passing laws and mandates that put hard working people out of a job, and small business in ruin, he believes that the current leadership in Washington does not understand the affect that their rash and reckless decisions have on the people.
